SACO — The Thornton Academy boys tennis team extended its home win streak to 30 games with a 5-0 win over Scarborough in the Class A South semis on Friday afternoon.

The Trojans improve to 14-0 overall this year, and will take on the winner of Portland-Falmouth at Bates College in the conference final.

Dariy Vykhodtsev won his singles match 6-0, 6-0 while Jakub Jurasek won 6-2, 6-1. Balasz Balati rounded things out with a 6-0, 6-0 win to give TA the 3-0 advantage.

TA’s top doubles pair Adam Lovejoy and Asher Thompson won their match 7-5, 6-2 while Caleb Richard and Jon Ma took a 6-4, 6-4 decision to secure the 5-0 shutout.

The TA girls will take on Scarborough in the Class A South semis on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The TA girls are also the No. 1 seed in the postseason after completing a perfect 12-0 season.

Baseball

Thornton Academy 5, Deering 0

The Trojans picked up an impressive 5-0 win over Deering at Hadlock field on Friday.

Luke Chessie got the win on the mound for TA, while Chase Wescott led the Trojans at the plate with two, two-out RBI’s.

TA improves to 11-5 on the season.

Girls Lacrosse

Kennebunk 12, Waynflete 5

The defending champion Kennebunk girls lacrosse team picked up a 12-5 win over Waynflete in its season finale on Thursday. The Rams complete the season with a 10-2 record and hold the top seed heading into the postseason.
