DAYTON — This is a story of our Mom, Arlene M. Bowers.

She was born to Patrick and Aurore (Paradis) Ouellette on Aug. 21, 1934. Our Dad, Roger Bowers, met Mom when he was stationed at Limestone Air Force Base, Maine, and where she worked as a telephone operator.

They married April 19, 1954 and began their life in Dad’s hometown of Swanton, Ohio, raising their six bundles of joy – Pamela Shanteau, David, Jana (Tim) Bowerman, Lisa (Joe) Camarano, Brenda (Michael) Steeves, and lastly, Monica “Butchie” (Blaine) Curtis. Phew!

Her love was not only for her family, she also shared that love by working in a local nursing home and volunteering on the Swanton Rescue Squad. She was an avid reader and an awesome Mom who knitted mittens for hundreds of little children in hospitals.

In 1984, Mom and Dad moved back to her home state of Maine; this time was spent with her sisters, Del (Warren) Buchta, Bobbie (Rodney) Carmichael, Verna (Robert) Parent, Marie Swazey, Rae (Don) LaPerle, and Martha (Jake) Jacobsen, and brothers, Dan (Pat) Ouellette and John Ouellette. Another Phew!

Mom was loved by all. Her parents preceded her in death, as well as sisters Martha, Del, Verna, and brother, Dan. Also, our sister, Lisa, is at this moment straightening up Mom’s newfound angel wings.

Mémère has eight grandchildren and 13 great ones that will always know she’s in heaven with Jesus.
