MID COAST HUNGER PREVENTION PROGRAM recently hosted their annual summer meals kick-off event at Curtis Memorial Library. The event featured games, ice cream, freshly picked strawberries and a free and healthy lunch. More than 30 kids and their parents got to see seven exotic animals brought by Sparks’ Ark. Twenty-three meals were served at the event, according to site supervisor Bridget Horan. The site will be open every Monday-Friday from noon to 1 p.m. until Aug. 25 and may feature programming from community partners such as the Pejepscot Historical Society and local authors. Open sites will also be running at Mount Ararat from 9-10 a.m. and noon to 1 p.m. and at Perryman Village from noon to 1 p.m. All kids and teens 18 and under are welcome to come.
