BATH — There are again free school supplies for students in grades K-12, thanks to the return of the “Back to School in Bath” event.
Sponsored by the Solar Star Lodge #14 and the Smith Tobey Auxiliary Unit 21, students can go to the Solar Star Lodge on Washington Street to pick up free book bags, paper, pens, folders, crayons, glue and more. Students can also enter a free giveaway for a new bicycle.
The event is intended to relieve the burden on parents going into the school year.
The K-5 Giveaway will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the 6-12 Giveaway will be held on Saturday Aug. 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
