
James Sinclair singled in the game-winning run in the seventh inning as Coastal Landscape finished off a Zone 3 Senior American Legion baseball sweep on Sunday over Highland Green, 5-4.
Coastal won the opener, 1- 0, as Riley Bartell pitched a complete game five-hitter.
Alex Larson also went the distance in the first game for Highland Green, tossing an eight-hitter with seven punchouts and four walks.
Coastal Landscape (11-7) scored its lone run in the opening frame as Griffin Watson, Logan McCarthy and Sinclair (RBI) each singled for a 1-0 lead.
Highland Green (6-10) threatened in the third when Kyle Brennan and Hunter Lohr opened the frame with singles. But, Bartell pitched out of it and finished with two strikeouts and two walks on just 80 pitches.
Brennan, Lohr, Cam Cox, Cam Grant and Sam Alexander each singled for Highland Green.
In the nightcap, McCarthy and Dylan Francouer singled in the seventh before Sinclair ripped a single to give the visitors the lead.
Francouer was 3-for-3 in the win, with Sinclair adding a pair of singles. Watson and McCarthy combined on the mound for four strikeouts and two walks.
Grant went all seven frames in the loss with three strikeouts and four walks. Brennan, Lohr and Haven Cutko each singled twice.
Highland Green hosts Zone 3 United on Tuesday at 4 p.m. for a doubleheader.
Junior Legion
GRAY — Dakota Lopez went 4-for-4 to power Topsham Post 202 to a 22-5 victory over Gray-New Gloucester on Friday.
Post 202 improved to 8-6 and hosts Yarmouth on Tuesday at Mt. Ararat Middle School (5:30 p.m.).
Lopez drove in five runs and scored three times, with two of his hits being doubles. Isaiah Cogswell, Asa Hodgdon and Brady Mitchell each went 3-for-4 in the win, with Isaak Flaming, Devin Tobin, Kyle Secone, Trey Booty and Coenradt Taylor each adding two hits apiece.
Secone went the five innings on the mound for a complete game, striking out three and walking eight.
Cam Andrews and Colby Saunders combined for two strikeouts and three walks for Gray, with Aiden Sweeney leading the offense with two hits, two runs and an RBI.
