SANFORD — When the Sanford School Department went looking for three assistant administrators, they found all of them in York County.

Two — Beth Lambert and Aaron Tremblay — have been named assistant principals at Sanford High School. Both were promoted from within.

The third new administrator, Michael Redmond, has been named assistant director at Sanford Regional Technical Center. Redmond, of Kennebunkport, has worked in the Biddeford school system in a variety of roles over 32 years.

“This is an exciting time for our district and I am pleased that we were able to hire such a dedicated and experienced professional to fill this key position,” said Superintendent David Theoharides of Redmond.

Redmond began his new job on July 10, succeeding Matt Petermann, who was also an assistant Sanford High School principal. Petermann took over as principal at Sanford High School earlier this month.

SRTC serves more than 450 students from Sanford and surrounding York County communities.

Redmond taught both middle and high school in Biddeford. Theoharides said his most recent role included teaching social sciences to high school students while working as an interim assistant principal. Redmond has also been active in the school’s athletic community, coaching a variety of sports teams.

Most recently, Lambert taught English language arts courses to students in grades 9 to 12 while serving as a teacher leader for the district’s Curriculum Department.

Tremblay joined the Science Department staff at Sanford High School in 2000 after spending four years at Hermon High School. He has served as a mentor, coach, advisor, assistant administrator, department co-chair and as a member of numerous school and district related committees and initiatives.

Most recently, Tremblay taught science courses to students in grades 9 to 12 while serving on the high school’s accreditation committee.

Former Assistant Principal Doug Roberts has retired.
