HOLLIS — Dawn Smith Desrosiers, 72, of Sand Pond Road, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

She was born in New Britain, Connecticut, on Sept. 24, 1944, the daughter of Floyd Arnold and Alice Willey Smith.

She and her family moved to Maine at a young age and she attended Saco Schools, including Thornton Academy. 

Dawn was employed at local shoe shops, later Fairchild, Maine, Castle Restaurant, and most recently at Sweester Children’s Home, from which she retired. 

She enjoyed Bingo, reading Rag magazines, being “The Coupon Queen,” playing solitaire and most importantly being with her family.

Dawn is preceded in death by: her parents; and three brothers, Scott, Brett and Bart, aka Jake Smith.

She is survived by: a son, David Desrosier Jr. of Lyman; a daughter, Patricia Forbes and husband, Scott of Hollis; a brother, Bruce Smith of Hollis; and five grandchildren, Ryan and Sarah Forbes, Corinne Desrosier Valient, Emily Desrosier and Gabriella Desrosier.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Elder Gray Cemetery in Waterboro. Pastor Ron Sargent will officiate.

Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home and Cremation, 13 Portland Road, Buxton are entrusted with the arrangements.
