Brittany Adell, a Gray native, has been hired as Colgate University’s women’s rowing head coach. A 2009 graduate of Gray-New Gloucester High School and a 2013 graduate of Temple University, Adell previously was an assistant at Dayton and Villanova.
Maine Amateur champion Jack Wyman is the recipient of the Maine State Golf Association’s Dr. Leonardo Buck Player of the Year Award after earning the most points in MSGA tournaments from August 2016 through July 31, 2017. Wyman, of South Freeport, moved to the top of the standings by winning the Maine Amateur at Brunswick Golf Club on July 13. Two weeks later, he clinched the points title by finishing as the low amateur in the Charlie’s Maine Open at Augusta Country Club.
Sue Layne used a 5-hybrid to ace the third hole at Dutch Elm on July 26. Her playing partners were Carolyn Horlor and Pat Gallant.
Eric Jensen made a hole-in-one on the third hole at Dutch Elm on July 31. Playing partner Bob Jensen witnessed the 6-iron shot.
Burr Duryee aced the first hole at Purpoodock Club on Aug 5. Duryee used a driver for the 285-yard shot, which was witnessed by Matt Campbell.
