No one was injured.
No one was inside the camper, which was parked close to a residential garage.
Waterboro Fire Department Capt. Michael Fraser said damage to the camper was so great the origin and cause of the fire could not be determined.
He said the first arriving units reported a fully involved camper approximately five feet from a two- car garage.
The vinyl siding on the garage melted, but Fraser said there was no other damage. Crews were able to cool the garage while extinguishing the camper, preventing fire from extending into the garage.
York County Sheriff’s Office deputies closed Route 202 while firefighters stretched hose across the roadway to a hydrant.
Alfred firefighters assisted their Waterboro counterparts.
