BIDDEFORD — Donald R. Guillerault, 73, of Biddeford, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born Nov. 22, 1943 in Biddeford, a son of Raymond and Donalda (Robillard) Guillerault and was educated in Biddeford schools. Don graduated, class president, from Biddeford High School in the Class of 1964, and directed the Biddeford High School Band in his senior year.

On Aug. 22, 1964, he married Penelope Warren in St. Mary’s Church.

He became a mechanical engineer by completing the West Point Pepperell Apprenticeship program and went to work there. He also had worked with Fairchild semiconductor and S.D. Warren before returning to West Point Pepperell where he remained the rest of his working life.

His interest in music led him to be a member of Painchaud’s Band and the Sanford-Springvale Band. He served with the Biddeford Housing Authority for many years, the Biddeford City Council (1982-1985 and 1989-1990), and School Board (1986-1987).

Donald helped to organize the Pepperell Mill Tours and was also one of the presenters.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Richard.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 54 years, Penelope Guillerault; daughters Carolyn and Dawna Guillerault; his son, Norman and his wife Claudine, all of Biddeford; brother, Marc Guillerault of Biddeford; sister Diane Franklin and her husband David of Maryland; five grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan, Therese, Catherine and Jacob; and nieces and nephews. Don was also awaiting the arrival of his first great grandchild. He will also be missed by Hannah, his black lab who was always at his side.

Visiting Hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A funeral service will be on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Hope Chapel. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.
