ORR’S ISLAND — Dewey Gilliam, 95, of Orr’s Island, Maine, died on Aug. 4, 2017, peacefully at Maine Veterans Home in Augusta. He was born on Aug. 31, 1921, on Orr’s Island, son of Albert E. Gilliam and Freida (Greeley).
He retired from Bath Iron Works and spent his retirement years lobstering on Casco Bay, lake fishing and hunting at his camp on Moosehead Lake. He was a WW11 veteran and belonged to the Masonic lodge.
Dewey was predeceased by his wife, Betty Gilliam.
He is survived by two daughters, Bonnie R. Hinz of Bowdoinham, ME, Mary K. Bibber of Cundy’s Harbor ME; two grandchildren, Brian Bibber of Cundy’s Harbor, Jimmy Bibber of Bowdoinham; sons-in-law, Horst J. Hinz of Bowdoinham and Wilber Bibber Jr. of Cundy’s Harbor, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial service will be at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
