The Dunkin Donuts is being constructed at the corner of Ocean Park and Smithwheel roads on the site of the former Windsor Cabins, which were torn down earlier this year to make way for the new restaurant.
Plans for the Dunkin’ Donuts had been in the works for a few years. In April, the Planning Board gave the developer a year-long extension as the company’s approval for construction was to expire April 14. Project representative Scott Braley of Plymouth Engineering said at the meeting that work on the project was unable to move forward as planned last fall due to the early winter.
Stacy Whalen-Kelley, spokeswoman for Cafua Management Company, LLC, which owns Dunkin’ Donuts throughout New England, said in an email Friday the company was excited to bring a new Dunkin’ Donuts to Old Orchard Beach.
“While we have not yet set a date for opening, the Cafua Management Company’s construction team continues to work to develop the site at Ocean Park Road and we look forward to serving this vibrant community,” she said.
This will be the town’s only year-round Dunkin’ Donuts. A seasonal Dunkin’ Donuts is located downtown on Old Orchard Street.
