BUXTON — Police here have arrested a local man in connection with a shooting on Old Orchard Road earlier this month that left a 28-year-old Hollis man critically injured.

Brandon Lasante, 19, has been charged with aggravated attempted murder and elevated aggravated assault, both Class A felonies, in connection with the Aug. 6 shooting of Lincoln Kimball of Hollis.

Buxton Police Chief Troy Cline and Corporal Francis Pulsoni took Lasante, of 58 Old Orchard Road, into custody without incident at about 7 p.m. Monday. Maine Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland this morning said Lasante was arrested at the Buxton Police Department where he had gone to meet with detectives.

The shooting took place in front of Lasante’s home on Old Orchard Road about 2:30 a.m.

“Kimball was struck with several pellets from a shotgun and has been treated at Maine Medical Center in Portland,” said McCausland in a statement. “He is making a slow recovery and was interviewed by detectives last week in his hospital room.”

Lasante has been the subject of the  ongoing shooting investigation conducted by Buxton Police and Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit.

Cline in a news release said Lasante was held at York County Jail in Alfred in lieu of $250,000 bail. If released, he is to have no contact with the victim.

A Class A felony carries a maximum prison penalty of 30 years, upon conviction.
