SANFORD — Dorothy Green, 52, of Sanford, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2017 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

She was born March 8, 1965 in Biddeford. Dorothy was a graduate of Oxford Hills High School. She received her associate’s degree from New Hampshire Tech, and attended the University of England, graduating in 2005 with bachelor’s degrees in Medical Biology and Biochemistry.

On Jan. 16, 1986, she married Charles “Chuck” Green in Biddeford.

For 10 years she worked in the shipping and receiving department of T.J. Maxx in Biddeford, retiring a year ago due to illness.

Dorothy loved gardening, sewing and bowling as well as frequent get-togethers with her college friends. She freely gave her time and energies as a volunteer to help cancer victims or improve the lives of children. Her greatest joy in life was music though, she attended over 500 concerts and performances over the years with her loving husband Chuck.

She was preceded in death by Deeanne Townsend, Troy Higgins, and “Mom and Dad” Green.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 31 years, Chuck Green of Sanford; two sons, Charlie Green of Saco and Dillon Green of Lebanon; Mom, Elaine Higgins and her family of Florida; and many other loving and caring relatives.

Visiting Hours will be 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, 2017 at Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A funeral service will follow at 5:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
