Police responded to a call of a car crash in the vicinity of 19 Ocean Avenue around 1:17 a.m. on Tuesday, said Captain David Hemingway.
When police got to the scene, a yellow 1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo had driven into a home at the corner of Ocean and West Grand avenues, said Hemingway.
The driver of the car, Edward Parker, 32 had run away from the scene and was found nearby in a wooded area near the railroad tracks, said Hemingway.
Parker was arrested and charged with operating under the influence and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.
Parker had no major injuries and was the only occupant in the car, said Hemingway.
The owners of the home were out of state at the time of the accident.
Hemingway said the town public works department helped secure the building after the accident.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
