
William was born Oct 1951 in Brunswick, Me to Alphonse and Thelma Lavoie. William graduated from Brunswick High School. William served in the Army with the 43rd engineer battalion. He married his wife Patricia in 1983.
He worked at Bath Iron Works for 36 years doing many jobs, most recently in the security department. “Wild Bill”, as he was known by so many, would go out of his way to make people’s day as he greeted them at the gates. William enjoyed restoring his antique panel truck and spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by both his mother and father, niece Amanda and nephew David.
William is survived by his wife Patricia of Topsham; his brother, Steven and wife Anne of Topsham; his two sons, Alan Lavoie and partner Stephanie of Lisbon Falls, Joseph and wife Aly of Richmond; four grandsons, Alan Jr, Christian, Tristan and David.
In lieu of flowers the family has suggested donations to be made to the Travis Mills Foundation, 89 Water Street, Hallowell, ME 04347.
Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8pm
Wednesday August 30, 2017 at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home 10am Thursday August 31, 2017. Interment with military honors will conclude at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta, ME.
