SANFORD —  A 39-year-old local woman has been arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a Class D misdemeanor, in connection with an incident at her home Wednesday night.

Deputy Police Chief Tim Strout said officers responded to a Charles Street address at  10:54 p.m. Wednesday  for a report of  a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers could hear yelling coming from an apartment at the address, he said.

Officers made contact with Christine Blair and determined that her 14- and 16- year old children also resided at the apartment. The 14-year-old was at home at the time.

“.Due to Blair appearing to be impaired by intoxicants and the condition of the apartment, officers believed that the health, safety and welfare of the children was endangered and that Blair was violating her duty of care and protection,” said Strout in an email.

Blair was arrested and taken to York County Jail, where she was held overnight in lieu of $1,000 bail. She was scheduled to make a first appearance at Biddeford District Court by video from the jail this afternoon.
