KENNEBUNKPORT — Looking to welcome fall with a local art showing? The Maine Women in the Arts has that covered, as the MWA host their “Big and Small” Fine Art Show.

The award show marks the 40th anniversary for the MWA, a non-profit organization devoted to providing exposure to Maine artists across the state and across various medias.

“Our aim for this extra special awards show is to recognize the many remarkable women and men who have contributed their time and talents to Maine Women in the Arts over four decades,” said MWA Chairperson Pam Edwards in a press release.

According to MWA employees, this year’s show will feature several displays to commemorate the anniversary, including a special exhibit from founding members of the organization.

In addition, the event will hold an award show where artists’ work will be judged and awards will be given in various categories. Pieces both big and small will be on display, providing a wide selection of different sized original art.

The show will be held from Friday, Sept. 29 to Sunday, Oct. 1 at the Masonic Lodge at 1 North St., Kennebunkport. Friday hours range from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday goes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Guests will be able to meet the artists as well as experience a live performance from classical flute and cello duo Mary Kennedy and Cindy Khalkoff on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
