BRUNSWICK — On Monday, both Brunswick Junior High School seventh- and eighth-grade boys soccer teams opened the 2017 season with wins over visiting Oxford Hills.

The eighth-grade game was a nail-biter, Simon Paledzki was the second-half hero, netting two goals to garner the 2-1 victory for the Huskies.

Also playing well for the Huskies was winger David Brinkman, defenders Albie Putman and striker Gus Silverman.

The seventh-grade game was one sided from the beginning as Brunswick blanked Oxford Hills, 11-0. The shutout was preserved thanks to a solid horizontal dive by Husky goalkeeper A.J. Wolverton on a Viking penalty kick. Brady LaForge also was solid in net in the second half.

Liam Driscoll came up big on the day for the Huskies with one goal and five assists. Hat tricks came from Zach Stern- Hayer and Chris Kousky, two goals from Wolverton, and one apiece from Sid Pols and Max Hamilton. Kaelin Gerwig and Jaren Similien were tireless on defense for Brunswick.

Next up for the Brunswick boys will be this upcoming Monday at Lewiston.
