TURNER — The eighth-grade Mt. Ararat Middle School girls soccer team had its first match up of the season on Monday at Tripp Middle School finishing in a 2-2 deadlock.

The game turned out to be a battle, with both teams bringing their strengths to the table. The Eagles brought more skill to the game, and Tripp brought the hustle and strength.

The Eagles scored first on a beautifully placed penalty kick by Isadore Theberge, but Tripp answered with a goal soon after.

In the second half, Mt. Ararat scored on a relay between Emily Davison, who made a pass to the left wing to Theberge, who then sent a pass across the 18- yard line to Lauren Johnson for the goal.

Late in the second half, Tripp answered with the tying goal as the game ended in a tie.

Olivia Cox, Rachel Eaton and Alyssa Moody played solid defense and helped moved the ball up the field for the Eagles.
