SCARBOROUGH — Rachel C. Montembeau, 88, of Standish died on Monday, Sept. 25, 2017 at Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough.

She was born on June 1, 1929 to Henry and Alma (Perreault) Lauzon in Biddeford. She graduated from St Joseph High School, Class of 1948.

On June 14, 1952, she married Real Montembeau at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. They spent 35 years together until his death in 1987.

She worked at the various local shoe shops as a stitcher until her retirement in 1993. She loved watching sports, especially the Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics. She enjoyed playing Beano and being with her dogs, Zack, Buddy and Toby.

She is preceded in death by her son Raymond Montembeau and three of her brothers, Andre, Henry and Bernard Lauzon.

Rachel is survived by two daughters: Susan Jewett and her husband Thomas of Suffolk, Virginia and Joanne Vetterline and her husband Richard of Standish; a brother Rodolph Lauzon and his wife Reinette of Biddeford; five grandchildren, Kevin, Becky, Todd, Jason, and Sonja; four great-grandchildren: Rylee, Elijah, Landyn and Madelynn; a goddaughter Theresa Bissonette and her husband Gary of Lyman; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 at Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
