PORTLAND — Friday was a big day far Maine hockey.
The long-awaited team name was revealed at the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Maine in downtown Portland.
Philadelphia Flyers President, Paul Holmgren, announced that the name Maine Mariners will return to the ice in October 2018.
The Mariners are collecting deposits for their inaugural season. It is $50 per seat and is fully refundable before selecting a seat. The deposit will hold fans place in line to reserve seat locations in the near future.
Former Portland Pirates season ticket holders will be serviced first to get them into their proper seat location, followed by new season ticket holders. A full pricing model will be released soon.
The Mariners will play in the East Coast Hockey League.
