OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Animal lovers have multiple opportunities this week to help out their furry, four legged friends.

Local artist Iona Desmond is selling her late husband’s collection of piggy banks and cookie jars from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 19 Cottage Ave. in Old Orchard Beach. Proceeds will go to the Old Orchard Beach Community Animal Watch, Animal Welfare Society and Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland. Desmond said her late husband was an animal lover and very community-minded, and she is selling most of his 400 item collection to honor his wish of raising money for animals.  For more information, call Desmond at 934-4742.

The Community Animal Watch in Old Orchard Beach, which works to protect the health and welfare of local animals, is desperately in need of cat food, both canned and dry.  Those who wish to help can donate items to Old Orchard Beach Town Hall or send a donation to Community Animal Watch, 1 Portland Ave., Old Orchard Beach, ME, 04064.

An indoor flea market and rummage sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Saco Grange Hall #53, 168 North St., Saco. Proceeds will go to Old Orchard Beach Community Animal Watch, Lucky Pup Rescue and Another Chance Rescue.
