BIDDEFORD — Simonne A. Paquette, 88, formerly of Biddeford, passed away on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017 at Glendale hospital in Glendale, California.

She was born Feb. 20, 1929 in Lewiston, a daughter of Odias and Almonza (Champagne) Villeneuve and was raised and educated in St. Methode, P.Q., Canada.

Simonne came to Biddeford in 1945 where she lived with her three sisters, Rolande Villeneuve, Muriel Villeneuve Roy and Candide Villeneuve Brochu while her two brothers Fernand and Guy Villeneuve resided in Lewiston.

In Biddeford she met Leo M. Paquette; on Aug. 7, 1954 they were married at St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford. They were blessed with a son, Maurice in 1955.

Here she was employed in the shoe manufacturing industry with Stride Rite, Nike and also a shoe shop in Kennebunk.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards knitting, baking and cake decorating.

Simonne was preceded in death by Leo, her husband of 45 years, in 1999. She was also predeceased by all of her siblings.

She is survived by her son Maurice A. Paquette of Los Angeles, California, where she had resided since 2009 and by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017 at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Simonne’s son Maurice remembers with gratitude the special care and attention given to her by her sisters and their families after Leo’s death, and the way they maintained communication with her after she had moved to California.
