KENNEBUNK — Walter Richard Choroszy, 82, of Kennebunk, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at Southern Maine Healthcare in Biddeford.

He was born in Saco on May 28, 1935, a son of John and Yvonne (Bouthot) Choroszy. He graduated from Thornton Academy, Class of 1952.

Richard served his country in the United States Army. He was a paratrooper with the 82nd and 11th Airborne Division.

He was employed as a machinist, foreman, planner and estimator for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 34 years.

Richard was a lifelong boating and fishing enthusiast and was a member of the Saco Yacht Club since 1963. He also was an avid bowler enjoying success holding several local titles on televised matches.

Mr. Choroszy was a communicant of St. Martha Church in Kennebunk.

He was predeceased by his wife Fae (Wentworth) Choroszy in 1999 and by one sister Rochelle Boutet in 1984.

He is survived by one sister Rita Boudrea of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, two brothers John Choroszy of Loudon, New Hampshire and Rodney Choroszy of Old Orchard Beach and by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St., Saco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at St. Martha Church in Kennebunk. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
