BATH — The Mt. Ararat High School girls jayvee soccer team recently blanked Morse, 6-0 in a hard-fought battle.
Despite a one-sided score, the Shipbuilders were nothing if not relentless in their attack. Freshmen Mary LaRochelle and Julia Goddard combined for seven shots on goal against the Eagles. The duo found themselves running through Mt. Ararat’s defense multiple times, racking up attempt after attempt.
Annie Wilkins and Emily Merryman gave the Eagles a 2-0 halftime lead, and Grace Morrell, Merryman, Wilkins and Kelsey Dwelley scored in the second half.
Emily Adams and Hannah Bailey set up the Shipbuilders’ attacks throughout the game with strong performances on the outside.
In the defensive half of the field, Morse faced a very aggressive Eagle offense. Freshmen Brook Kulis, Hailie Johnson, Katelyn Anderson and Marissa Williams stayed solid on the back line for Morse. Sophomores Helena Eich and Eliza McKenney kept the momentum going for the Shipbuilders in the middle of the field.
Morse keeper Abby Sreden, coming off of her first season shutout against Leavitt, collected seven saves for the home team.
