KENNEBUNKPORT  — Caring Unlimited, York County’s Domestic Violence Resource Center, is hosting a variety of events throughout the month of October, nationally recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month since 1987.

The events are aimed at raising awareness about the issue, while some will also help raise crucial funds to support Caring Unlimited’s programs and services, offered free of charge to victims of domestic abuse and violence.

The first of these special events will be this Monday, Oct. 9 as Federal Jack’s Brewpub in Kennebunkport hosts their 25th annual Lobster Bake and all-you-can-eat BBQ fundraiser from noon to 4 p.m.

For just $20 adults can enjoy a lobster and all-you-can-eat barbecue.  All-you-can-eat barbecue with no lobster is just $15, and kids eat for $7.  All proceeds benefit Caring Unlimited, and Federal Jacks staff working at the event are volunteering their time for the cause.

In addition to the wonderful food, there will be plenty of entertainment for both kids and adults including live music, 50/50 raffle, a chance to win $100 in scratch tickets, face-painting, and more.

Funds raised through this annual event support victims of domestic violence by supporting the programs and services of Caring Unlimited including: the 24-hour confidential hotline, emergency shelter, transitional housing and services, support and education groups, legal advocacy, school-based education and advocacy, and community-based education and training.

In addition to the Lobster Bake at Federal Jacks Kennebunk photographer Christine Anuszewski is offering a special Family Portrait Mini Session Fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 14 at Mother’s Beach, and Caring Unlimited will host the 5th Annual Survivor Stories Project at Engine Gallery on Main Street in Biddeford on Thursday, Oct. 19.
