TOPSHAM — Tucker Abraham Grant Gonzalez, age 21, died Wednesday October 4, 2017.

He was born July 10, 1996 in Portland, Maine. He spent several years in the Belgrade/Oakland area before moving to Topsham. He was a graduate of Mt. Ararat High School, Class of 2014. He worked seasonally in his mother’s greenhouse for the past several years, and from 2016- 2017, Tucker worked at Walmart in Falmouth.

Tucker saw the US from coast to coast, and visited more than a dozen foreign countries. While in high school, he was selected to participate in the “People to People” international ambassadorship program, which gave him the opportunity to explore Europe with a group of youths from several states, making many good friends in the process. Tucker was a passionate reader, particularly of fantasy novels. His love of music covered many genres, from the popular to the obscure – enjoying classic rock, Irish folk music, Hall & Oates and nerd core equally – and Disney movie soundtracks above all. Tucker loved anime, and could talk for hours about his favorite shows. He enjoyed all sort of games. He was an avid online gamer, and would happily engage in a marathon Monopoly game, or topple your King with a grin when playing chess. His tight-knit Dungeon & Dragons group challenged him with elaborate campaigns; these were some of his closest friends. Tucker loved animals large and small, with special affection for pugs, and the family pets, Jenna and Zelda. The original chore of spring planting developed into a true love of plants, and he was fondest of repotting and nursing back to health discarded specimens. New plants appeared and multiplied as if by magic on windowsills and countertops, both indoors and out.

Tucker is survived by his mother Jennifer Gonzalez and step-father Calvin Weaver and sister Sophia of Topsham; a grandmother Joanne Joyce of Freeport; a grandfather Joseph Gonzalez of New York; an Uncle James Joyce and his wife Diane of Pennsylvania; an aunt Dana Grant and cousins Bryanna, Hannah, and Maxx of New York; and many other extended family. He was predeceased by Laurie Ann Holt, who was like a second mother to him. His extended family on the Holt side were dear to Tucker, especially Michelle, Matt, Melanie and CJ.

Friends and family can visit from 1pm-2pm on Sunday October 15, 2017 at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick. A memorial service will begin at 2pm. Food and fellowship will follow at The Brunswick Inn, 162 Park Row, Brunswick. Memories and condolences can be expressed at www.brackettfuneralhome.com. Memorial contributions can be made in Tucker’s name to The Nature Conservancy in Maine, 14 Maine Street, Suite 401, Brunswick 04011, or by calling their office at 207-607-4832.
