BIDDEFORD — Roland L. Farley, 77, of Biddeford, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017 at his home.

He was born Oct. 25, 1939 in Biddeford, a son of Peter and Blanche L. (Dudley) Farley. Roland attended local schools and graduated from Biddeford High School in 1958 and Gorham State Teachers College in 1964.

On April 18, 1970 he married Lorraine Paquette at St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford.

Roland had been a middle school teacher; he taught sixth grade in Richmond, Maine and 31 years in the Saco Middle School, retiring in 1997. After retirement he worked a seasonal job with the city of Biddeford where he enjoyed interacting with all the people. He was a member of the St. Louis Alumni Association, the Biddeford and Saco Lodge of Elks, and the Knights of Columbus St. Joseph Council.

He enjoyed baseball, basketball and football. He liked to follow local sports and play cards and scrabble. An avid sportsman, he coached basketball at the Saco Middle School, and played men’s softball in Biddeford and Saco; he also officiated basketball and softball games.

Roland was predeceased by eight brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lorraine P. Farley; a son, Jameson Farley; a daughter, Elizabeth Gaudette and her husband Michael; along with three grandchildren, Lucas, Magnolia and Benjamin, all of Biddeford.

Visiting Hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017 at Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 27 at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
