BRUNSWICK
Brunswick police have released the identity of two people killed in separate crashes reported Saturday and Monday.
The name of the driver who died in a fatal crash Monday night on US Route 1 west of Cook’s Corner was Katherine Rand, 78, of Brunswick.
Brunswick police received a report shortly before 8 p.m. Monday of a sedan driving southbound in the northbound lane of Route 1. Before officers could locate the sedan, driven by Rand, it collided head-on with a minivan traveling northbound on Route 1.
Two adult occupants in the minivan were transported to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick and a teenager was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Police say it was 32-year-old Matthew Stevens of Topsham who died in a separate crash reported Saturday morning at Maine Street and Pleasant Hill Road.
Officers and rescue personnel responded and found a pickup truck on its side in a wooded area. Stevens, the sole occupant, was declared dead inside the vehicle.
