A fifth person has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred last month in Poland.

The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office announced Saturday that deputies arrested Isaiah Strong-Gassama at 8 p.m. Friday and charged him with robbery.

The 20-year-old was taken into custody as deputies followed up leads during their investigation of an armed robbery that occurred on Oct. 26 on Empire Road in Poland.

The victim of the armed robbery, who was alone at the time, told authorities that he knew the robbers, one of whom appeared to have a gun, and they did not try to hide their identities from him. They escaped in a black car. During the incident, the resident told police that he was threatened with harm and was pushed down, breaking his glasses.

The sheriff’s office said in a statement Saturday that Strong-Gassama, a transient, tried to flee a residence on Rosewood Lane in Poland but was apprehended without incident. He is being held on $20,000 cash bail at the Androscoggin County Jail and is expected to be arraigned on Monday.

The four other people who have been arrested in connection with the robbery are: Jordan Small, 18, of Auburn; John Wright, 18, of Auburn; Michaela Wagg, 20, of Richmond; and Caleb Wagg, 18, of Bowdoin.

The sheriff’s office said that the Waggs, who are siblings, were arrested again earlier this month for violating bail conditions. They were allegedly riding in the same vehicle on Nov. 18 when their bail conditions prohibited them from contacting each other. They have since been released on bail.
