BIDDEFORD — Sister Aurore Beaulieu, formerly known as Sister Marie Claude, died at St. Joseph Convent on Nov. 27, at the age of 95.

Sister Aurore comes from a family of seven children born to Sylvain Beaulieu of Madawaska, Maine and Lucie Cyr Beaulieu of Eagle Lake, Maine. Sister Aurore and her twin brother were born in Van Buren on Jan. 7, 1922. She received her elementary and secondary education in Van Buren Schools and graduated from Sacred Heart High. Sister Aurore entered the Congregation of the Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, also known as the Good Shepherd Sisters of Quebec, on Aug. 13, 1943.

Sister taught 26 years in schools located in Lawrence and Methuen in Massachusetts, and in Old Town and Caribou, Maine. Sister was an accomplished seamstress and in her second career, worked assiduously for 10 years at St. Anne Orphanage repairing and making clothing for the children. When she was transferred to Bay View Convent, she furnished many lovely handmade items to be sold at the gift shop there. Sister transferred to St. Joseph Convent, Biddeford in 2008.

Surviving in her family are several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be at St. Joseph Convent, 409 Pool St., Biddeford, Maine on Monday, Dec. 4 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Convent, on Dec. 4 at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
