OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Jeannette Roberge, 89, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

Jeannette was born on Dec. 11, 1924 in New Bedford, Massachu-setts, the daughter of René and Aldea (Duchaine) Racine.

She was educated in the Biddeford schools and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School.

Mrs. Roberge worked at and managed the family business, Racine’s Bakery in Biddeford, for many years. After retiring, she volunteered at Books ReVisited, a used book store with proceeds benefiting home health and hospice programs.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and sewing. She loved to be with her family and friends. Mrs. Roberge had a great sense of humor and was always smiling. She will be best remembered as being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Jeannette was a member of St. Margaret’s Church in Old Orchard Beach; you would see her walking to church most every day. In her younger years, she sang in the church choir and donated a lot of her time to the church.

Mrs. Roberge was preceded in death by: a brother, Normand Racine.

She is survived by: her loving husband of 67 years, Richard Roberge of Old Orchard Beach.

Jeannette is also survived by: four children, Joanne Sterling and her partner Kim Peaslee of Somerville, Massachusetts, Guy Roberge and his wife Lynn of Scarborough, Daniel Roberge and his wife Barbara of Old Orchard Beach and Michelle Hirshberg and her husband Eric of Scarborough; a brother, Roland Racine and his wife Muriel of Gorham; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are asked to visit with Jeannette’s family on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014 at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St., Saco, from 5-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Biddeford.
