Massabesic Middle School science teacher Pat Parent was honored by the Gulf of Maine Research Institute earlier this week for his use of a citizen science program that sees young people observe nature and record what happens. He’s shown here with a Sea Perch submarine, made by students using kits and advice supplied by Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Students are adapting the submarine so they can observe invasive aquatic plants.
