BABSON PARK, Mass. — The Bates College women’s basketball team exploded for 26 points in the third quarter, erasing an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat Roanoke College, 60-52 Tuesday afternoon in a neutral-site game at Babson College.

Nina Davenport scored 25 points with 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals, including 13 points and three assists in the third quarter, to lead the Bobcats (3-6).

Bates led by scores of 9-2 late in the first quarter and 12-7 early in the second, but Roanoke closed out the half with a 15-5 run over the final six minutes to assume a 28- 20 lead. Molly Hassell made a pair of 3-pointers in the streak while Livengood made 3-of-3 shots and grabbed four rebounds.

Davenport made a 3-pointer on an assist by Taylor McVeigh with 5:18 to go in the third period and followed that with a pair of free throws at the 4:59 mark, pulling Bates within two points of Roanoke (34-32). Davenport drained threes at the 2:32 and 1:30 marks as the Bobcats held a 49-44 lead after three.

Bates will remain at Babson to face the host Beavers today at 2 p.m.
