NEW BRITAIN, Conn.

Tyler Kohl headed a quartet of double-figure scorers with 18 points, pulled down 14 rebound and dished out six assists on Wednesday night to propel Central Connecticut to an 84-57 men’s basketball victory over the University of Maine at Detrick Gymnasium.

The Blue Devils, who built a 16-point halftime advantage, shot 53 percent from the field (31-for-59) while improving to 6- 6.

Aaron Calixte led the way for the Black Bears ( 3-10) with 16 points, but UMaine struggled to a 27 percent shooting performance (18-for-66), including 6-for-31 (19 percent) from the 3-point arc.

Andrew Fleming scored nine points and Vernon Lowndes Jr. posted eight for UMaine, which managed only four assists among its 18 field goals.

Central Connecticut, which outrebounded the Black Bears 44-36, exhibited outstanding scoring balance. Austin Nehls tallied 14 points, Deion Bute posted 13 points and six rebounds and Kashaun Hicks chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds.
