LISBON

The Lisbon High School girls basketball team broke into the win column, downing Dirigo, 42-39, in a Mountain Valley Conference matchup on Wednesday.

The Greyhounds are 1-4 heading into their MVC contest at Richmond on Saturday (7 p.m.), while the Cougars fell to 0-5.

Lisbon led 11-10 and 25-19 at the first two quarter breaks before Dirigo rallied to tie the game, 31-31, after three.

In the fourth, Lisbon scored all but two of its points at the free-throw line. The Greyhounds made 10-of- 13, including a 4-for-4 effort from Giana Russo, who picked up a game-high 21 points in the win. Charlee Cox and Kiley Merritt split 12 points, while Carly Drischler had five points. Lisbon finished 15-of-22 at the charity stripe.

Ashley Perrault and Lillie Williams paced Dirigo with 10 points each. The Cougars were 5-of-7 at the free-throw line.

Boys basketball

FAIRFIELD — Brunswick jumped out to a 16-5 lead in the first quarter and held off several Lawrence challenges for a 62-49 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory.

Sam Sharpe paced the Dragons (5-0) with 20 points, while Noah Cox drained four 3-pointers as part of his 14 points and added six assists. Kyle Hanson had a solid all-around game with 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. Jack Bates dished out six assists.

Kobe Nadeau led three Lawrence (2-3) players in double figures with 13 points. Logan Fortin had 12 and Nick Robertson picked up 11.

Brunswick travels to Greely on Friday (7 p.m.) for a battle of early-season unbeaten squads.
