BUXTON — A Parsonsfield woman, hospitalized last week after she collided with a van in Buxton, remained in critical condition Wednesday, a Maine Medical Center spokesman said.
Police Chief Troy Cline said in a press release that Lauren Edgerly, 26, was hospitalized in critical condition after a collison at 2:40 p.m. Dec. 22 on Long Plains Road (Route 22).
Police said Edgerly was driving a Dodge Avenger while talking to her mother on her cell phone when she lost control and hit a Ford E-250 driven by Matthew Hutchins, 33, of Old Orchard Beach.
“She drifted into the oncoming lane and subsequently struck Hutchins’ vehicle head on,” Cline said.
Cline said distracted driving and weather conditions were contributing factors in the crash.
Hutchins received minor injuries in the crash.
Weather conditions hampered emergency medical responders in getting to the scene, the press release said. Gorham Fire Police were called and the road was closed.
