OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Gregory “Greg” LeRoy Butterfield, 68, passed away on Dec. 26, 2017 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford, Maine surrounded by family and friends. 

He was born on April 19, 1949 in Streator, Illinois, the son of Ralph and Delores Butterfield. The family moved to Tucson, Arizona where he graduated and started his own family. Shortly after he moved to Maine for the remainder of his life.

Greg was predeceased by his daughter Brandy and is survived by his wife Kathy of 25 years; his son Kenneth Butterfield and his wife Mona of Saco, Maine; daughter Kimberly Andreasen and her finance Tom Campobasso of Dayton, Maine; and son Randy Butterfield and his wife Rebecca of Damariscotta, Maine; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He also survived by his sister Linda Moore (predeceased husband Bill) and youngest sister Debbie Littleton and spouse Jim, and many nieces and nephews whom all reside in Arizona.

Greg worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 16 years restoring naval ships and nuclear subs. He then went over the road and traveled to every state of the United States but three. He and his wife loved riding Harleys, one of their fondest memories was their trip to Sturgis, North Dakota. He loved music and had hopes of having his own rock band in his garage. Greg’s sense of humor is going to be sadly missed, he made everyone laugh and feel good even though he was very sick and in pain.

Memorial Services will be at noon Friday, Jan. 5 at the United Methodist Church, 656 Blue Star Memorial Highway in Scarborough, followed by a reception for family and friends at York County Veteran’s Alliance, 24 Bradbury St. Biddeford, Maine at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers. the family asks that donations be made to the Brandy Butterfield Scholarship Fund in Old Orchard Beach.
