Free Christmas tree disposal

The Buxton Transfer Station, 185 Portland Road, is accepting Christmas trees for disposal free of charge.

The transfer station is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays; and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays.

Residents are asked not to leave the trees curbside for trash collection as they will not be picked up. For more information, call 929-3913.

Closed for the winter

The Buxton-Hollis Historical Society is closed for the winter, but appointments to visit are available by calling 929-1684.

Its headquarters and museum are at 100 Main St. (Route 4A), Buxton.
