NEWPORT, R.I. — Olivia Shaw and Sam MacDonald combined for 37 points to lead the University of New England in a 65-43 Commonwealth Coast Conference women’s basketball victory over Salve Regina University on Saturday afternoon at the Rodgers Rec. Center.

Seeing their first action in nearly one month, the win moves the Nor’easters to 8-2 overall and 4-0 in league action. Big Blue has won 13 in-a-row during recent meetings between the teams.

Shaw put up a game-high 19 points and nine rebounds, while MacDonald registered 18 points, eight boards, four assists, and four steals. Jocelyn Chaput went for nine points and eight caroms, and Elyssa Nicholas drained three treys for another nine points.

UNE was out-rebounded by a 49-42 margin, but made up for the difference by forcing 21 Salve Regina turnovers and holding the Seahawks to just 28 percent shooting from the field.
