The Neighborhood United Church of Christ, at 798 Washington St., is kicking off a Community Conversations Series on Homelessness on Wednesday, Jan. 31, from 7- 8: 30 p. m. at The Neighborhood/UCC.

“ Caring for our neighbors is a high priority for The Neighborhood,”according to a press release from the church. “We recognize that for many, housing instability is a reality and a year- round challenge. Homelessness too often means individuals and families are also struggling to meet many other basic needs.”

This series of Community Conversations provides an opportunity to discuss homelessness in our area.

Perspectives will be shared by community leaders on how to define homelessness and its effect on our community. The Conversations will also include both a discussion of the resources that exist and those that are needed.

At the first Conversation on Jan. 31, a panel of three leaders will talk about homelessness from their perspectives. Panelists are:

• Bath Housing Authority Executive Director Deb Keller

• Sagadahoc County Sheriff Joel Merry

• Jen Rosa, a local who knows homelessness first hand.

More Conversations will take place Feb. 21 and March 21.
