The Morse High School girls basketball team used a 19-12 scoring advantage in the third quarter for a 57-53 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Lincoln Academy on Friday at Bath Middle School.

The Shipbuilders improved to 2-7 and host Freeport on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Lincoln Academy turned a 12-12 deadlock into a 26- 23 halftime lead. But, Morse rebounded to claim a 42-38 edge after three.

In the fourth quarter, Marissa Parks tallied 11 of her game-high 21 points to help the Shipbuilders hold off the Eagles. Parks also had 16 rebounds.

Sierra Wallace chipped in 15 points in the win, while Marija Medenica had 12.

Ellie Mathews and Chelsea Williams paced Lincoln with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

HYDE 21

ST. DOM’S 39

The host Saints held the Wolfpack to just four second-half points en route to a win on Friday in Auburn.

St. Dom’s failed to score in the fourth quarter, but a 39- 19 edge after three was more than enough.

Caroline Gastonguay had 12 points in the win, with Skye Rogers adding 10.

Jada Holford paced Hyde (2-4) with 16 points.

Boys basketball

NEWCASTLE — Lincoln Academy captured its first KVAC with a 67-58 victory over Morse on Friday.

The Eagles improved to 1- 7, while the Shipbuilders dropped to 1-8 and host York today at 1:30 p.m.

Lincoln Academy nailed 10 3-pointers in all in the first half in building a 39-26 halftime lead. The Eagles held a 47-42 edge after three.

Keyden Leeman led the Eagles with 24 points, including six treys, while Nate Simmons picked up 13 points, Joel Hatch 12 and Bryce York 10.

Parker Onorato led Morse with 19 points, with Tyriek Foster chipping in 14 points and Lucas Osterhout 11.

HALL- DALE 74

LISBON 36

The start was a solid one for the Greyhounds, who led 16-7 after a quarter against the undefeated Bulldogs at Lisbon on Friday.

However, Hall-Dale took over from there for a Mountain Valley Conference win.

The Bulldogs trailed 27-23 at the half, but outscored Lisbon (7-4) 51-9 in the second half.

Ashtyn Abbott led Hall- Dale (11-0) with 25 points.

Lisbon’s Jonah Sautter had 14 points, while teammate Sean Scott chipped in 11.
