She was born in Biddeford on Nov. 2, 1916 the daughter of Frank and Lulu Thompson Dow, Sr.
She graduated from Biddeford schools.
Ethel served as the Tax Collector for the Town of Dayton for 29 years and was employed by Corning Co-Star.
She was a member of the Goodwin Mills Advent Christian Church and held the Dayton’s Cane as the oldest resident. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Grange.
She is predeceased by her husband Joseph, a daughter Joanne Merchberger, a daughter-in-law Marjorie Mullett and two grandchildren Jay and Keith Mullett.
She is survived by three sons Raymond Mullett, Alan Mullett and wife Linda and Leroy Mullett all of Dayton, a brother James Dow of Baltimore, Maryland and two sisters Ruth Chretien of Biddeford and Caroline Grant of Rochester, New Hampshire, 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Crystal, Heather, Ari, Lorna, Maggie, Joanie, Donna, Nancy and Linda for their care and support, as well as the Hospice of Southern Maine.
Friends and family may call at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home 13 Portland Road, Buxton, (Bar Mills) on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home, Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Clark Cole officiating. Spring burial will be held next to her husband at Goodwins Mills Cemetery.
