Angels Everywhere
Everywhere I go I hear people talk about all the bad news in the world and how things just aren’t like they used to be. I have a little story to tell. I just walked over to the grocery store, about a 15- minute walk from where I work. I went to the salad bar and made myself a salad, then realized I didn’t have my wallet with me, it was in the pocket of my other jacket, back at the office. I went to the customer service desk to ask them to hold my salad for me until I could walk back to my office and grab my wallet. Another customer overheard the conversation and offered to buy my salad ($3.49) and drive me back to the office. Relieved, I said thank you and accepted on the condition that she would wait while I ran in to grab my money and pay her back. “Sure,” she said.
She works for Neighbors, she told me, and likes to help people. When we got to my office, I told her I would be right back and ran in to get money from my wallet. When I came out with the $5, she had left. There are angels everywhere, and I am honored to have met one today.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
