BIDDEFORD — Richard A. Fecteau, 76, of Biddeford died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. 

He was born June 2, 1941 in Biddeford a son of Fernand A. and Rita Marie (Rheault) Fecteau.  He was educated locally, attending St. Louis High School and graduating from Biddeford High School in 1960.

Richard served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. He had been employed with the Reece Corporation here and A.M.F Reece in Virginia.  He then worked with Idexx for 13 years, retiring in 2012.  Following retirement he worked part-time at Hannaford in Biddeford.

Richard was a member of the American Legion and had served on the Biddeford Planning Board. He enjoyed playing hockey and broomball and was an avid Biddeford and Boston sports fan.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores Fecteau of Biddeford; a son, David Descoteaux, his wife Julia and their son Petey of New York, N.Y.; two brothers Donald Fecteau and his wife Michelle and Michael Fecteau and sister Joan Soulard, all of Biddeford; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 26 in the Hope Chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
