BRUNSWICK — The Restoration Advisory Board meeting scheduled for Wednesday afternoon was canceled.
The meeting, which was due to take place at 4:30 p.m. at the Brunswick town office, was canceled due to the government shutdown. It will be rescheduled but no date has been set.
The RAB consists of community representatives that oversee the Superfund site cleanup at Brunswick Landing. These are sites that have been contaminated by hazardous waste, determined to pose a risk to the environment or human health by the Environmental Protection Agency.
RAB co-chairwoman Suzanne Johnson told the Brunswick Town Council last week that the Navy will pull out soon from the property, “and the town needs to ensure it has its relationships built in the chain of command both at DEP, EPA and the Navy.”
She had asked that an overview on the cleanup efforts and land use restrictions in place at Brunswick Landing be provided at the meeting.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
