BRUNSWICK — Erik James Gaghan, age 47, of Brunswick, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Mid Coast Hospital.

Erik was born in Lewiston on October 15, 1970, a son of Russell and Sue Ellen (Learned) Gaghan. He graduated from Monmouth Academy in 1988 and also had attended Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute.

He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army in the Gulf War. He served in Bravo Company, 1st Cavalry.

Following his return from tour of duty with the Army, he worked for National Distributors for 23 years.

Erik was known as a gentle soul who was also quiet and dignified. He enjoyed spending time with his family, skiing, weightlifting and fishing with his son, Noah. He was also an avid Tom Brady fan.

He is predeceased by his father.

Erik leaves behind his wife, Jennifer (Faria) Gaghan and his son, Noah of Brunswick; his mother of Monmouth; his brothers, Rusty Gaghan and his wife, Michelle of Winthrop, and Leo Gaghan of Detroit, Maine; his sister, Tasha O’Connor of Monmouth; his father and mother-in-law, Roy and Lois Faria of Friendship; nephews, Bryan and Cameron Gaghan, his niece, Brooklyn Gaghan, and nephews, Jake and Silas Faria; brother-in-law, Jon Faria and his wife, Heather of Waldoboro; and his aunt, Gloria Hall of Buckfield.

The family will receive friends from 10AM to 11AM Saturday, February 3, at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick, where a Celebration of Erik’s Life will follow at 11AM.
