BRUNSWICK — Seth Helie, 42, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in the company of his family at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

Seth was born in Brunswick to parents David and Jeanne Helie. He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1993. After school he took a job with a local carpenter building custom homes and remodels. He founded his first business in the spring of 2000. He owned and operated Seth Helie Designs where he designed and built custom cabinetry and furniture. In May of 2000 he married Amy E. Snell and they had one son, Ethan Helie born in 2004.

Seth loved being outdoors. In his spare time you could find him on his mountain bike, snowboarding, golfing, hiking, taking photographs or enjoying family time with his wife and son. Seth was also a pilot and enjoyed flying. He obtained his private pilot’s license at the age of 20 and earned his instrument rating, float plane rating and tail wheel endorsement.

Seth was predeceased by his father David Helie in 2003.

He is survived by his wife Amy Helie and son Ethan Helie of Brunswick; mother Jeanne Helie of Brunswick; sister Zoe (Jamie) Wall of Durham; in-laws Tanya (Scott) Goddard of Brunswick; Dean (Deb) Snell Jr. of West Bath; Jon (Amber) Snell of Durham; Nick (Julie) Snell of Buxton; Meghan (Adam) Hartley of Falmouth and several nieces and nephews.

A happy hour to celebrate Seth will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the Bath Golf Club, Whiskeag Road, Bath. A remembrance ceremony will be held at 9 AM on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Bath Golf Club followed by a celebration reception from 11 AM – 2 PM at Joshua’s Restaurant and Tavern, Maine Street, Brunswick. Casual, comfortable and colorful attire is requested for all celebrations.

To be respectful of allergies and sensitivities, the family has requested no flowers. Donations can be made in Seth’s name to Dean Snell Cancer Foundation, PO Box 104, Brunswick, ME 04011 OR Gosnell House, Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 US Rte One, Scarborough, ME 04074.
