BRUNSWICK
It’s time once again to recognize people and organizations who have their eye on preservation.
The Brunswick Downtown Association is seeking nominations for its 2018 Downtown Preservation Awards. Nominations are due no later than April 6; the awards will be presented on April 26 at BDA’s Speaker Series spring event.
The Downtown Preservation Awards are presented annually in recognition of people and organizations that have created tangible value in the heart of the community through renovation or restoration of existing buildings or through new construction that restores and enhances the traditional streetscape.
Retail, residential and institutional buildings are eligible for consideration as are infrastructure improvements. Projects completed in the prior 10 years may be nominated.
Honorees in prior years have included the Maine State Music Theater production facility on Elm Street, the Harriett Beecher Stowe House renovation on Federal Street, and the Lincoln Block, owned by Bill and Sandy Moore.
The award nomination form is available at brunswickdowntown.org/preservation-nominationssought or at the BDA office on the second floor the Norway Savings building at 85 Maine St.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
